An antique Arts and Crafts necklace, circa 1910, featuring chrysocolla cabochons with a beautifully complex coloration of blues and greens. The stones are set in sterling with a gilt wash, and the chain is 10k. This particular configuration is known as a "negligee necklace" or "negligee drop", a long necklace terminating in drops or tassels of irregular length; it's a design that well-suited the necklines and delicate dressmaker details of the Edwardian era.
The chain gives the piece an approximately 16" necklace length to the drop which measures 2" from top of the main stone to bottom of the lowest hanging pendant.
Elegantly simple; perfect for the girl who likes to make a subtle statement and appreciates a minimalist aesthetic.
The gemstone makes it a wonderful choice as a love token gift. Since Ancient Greece chrysocolla has been considered a talisman stone to support and nuture feminine energy and strength, used to dispell negative influences and bring calm, inner peace and the balance of enhanced wisdom.
Chrysocolla is also traditionally considered a metaphysical power stone for musicians, poets and artists, believed to help clear a path for creative inspiration.
In excellent condition with some light wear to the stones and a gentle antique patina. Marked on the side of one drop with "sterling" and "Germany". The chain is marked for 10k on the clasp.
