Originally a stick pin, circa 1880, crafted in 10k yellow gold with a rosey patina and a glittering oval pyrite face. We added a shank of our own design, modeled with a woody texture and cast in 10k recycled gold with a faint rosey hue to underline the color of the pyrite's bezel mounting. It's a bold split shoulder shank that beautifully complements the rough hewn and rustic quality of the stone. Measuring 3/4" north to south and a hair shy of 1/2" east to west as set, the pyrite sits approximately 4.03 mm above the finger when worn. The shoulders flare out to a 13.93 mm width at the face then gracefully taper to a 1.66 mm width by the center back of the band. Currently size 8 1/2 and resizable at least two full sizes without issue Please convo me for details before purchase if you are interested in our sizing service. There's a wealth of traditional lore surrounding iron pyrite and for centuries across many cultures it's been held as a talisman for mental acuity, vitality, physical health and healing, luck and wealth among other things. Native American legend holds that a polished piece of it provides a mirror to the soul, and the ancient Chinese believed it to be protection from crocodile attacks. A go-to talisman stone to be sure, covering all the bases with glittery panache. Known as "Fool's Gold" for it's ability to fool eager prospectors as it does sometimes coincide with deposits of gold. In the 16th and 17th century iron pyrite was used as a form of ignition in firearms because it creates a spark when struck against steel; this characteristic has been known since ancient times and may be why the stone is associated with astrological fire signs, most notably Leo. The pyrite face is in excellent antique condition. There is one area of a slightly more yellow gold on the back of the face where the pin stem was removed, and a slight scratch on the side. These are not visible when worn. One side of the bezel has a slight seam due to construction, not damage, and this is stable. Marked with our logo and for 10k on the inside of the band. ❃ The Eden Collective Ring Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheEdenCollective?section_id=13939721&ref=shopsection_leftnav_1 ❃ We are happy to offer layaway.
