A gorgeous antique locket circa 1918, crafted in 9k yellow gold with a light rosy patina. Beautifully hand-engraved with textural pattern of acanthus leaves and flowers in full bloom: forget-me-nots and roses specifically underlining a message of love and remembrance.
Measuring approximately 1 1/4" north to south, not including the attached bail, and 7/8" east to west. It opens to reveal the original photo holders and photo of a handsome young man with a healthy mustache on one side, and a piece of green silk grosgrain on the other.
We've strung the locket on a 22" chain of our own device, repurposing a rose and yellow gold-filled love knot link from a vintage 30s bracelet as a station on the yellow gold-filled rolo chain, underlining the message of devotion and affection inherent in such a keepsake.
In excellent condition, with a gentle antique patina that makes the gold glow, as only pieces with over 100 years under their belt can acquire. There is some slight oxidization on the inside phot holders ( please see photos), not visible when closed.
Marked on the outside with English hallmarks indicating 9K, (375), Birmingham as the city of manufacture, and the letter date for 1918.
