Originally an antique Edwardian lace brooch circa 1915, this elegant 14k yellow gold filigree pendant features four glittering cornflower-blue sapphires, approximately 2.85 mm each, and a fiery bright 3.10 mm transitional-cut diamond in the center. With finely engraved details, and gracefully undulating lines flowing in a marquise-shape around the stones, emphasizing their sparkle. Measuring approximately 1 1/2" north to south and 5/8" east to west at the widest. Hung from a fine 18" 14k yellow gold cable chain. While it epitomizes the elegance of its era, it's shape has a distinctly modern vibe as well. A combination of diamond and sapphire traditionally speaks to fidelity, devotion, truthfulness and eternal love, making this the perfect choice for a bride with an antique aesthetic looking for a striking but delicate statement piece. In excellent condition, not marked but acid tested for 14k. In the late 19th and earliest 20th century when frills and furbelows ( what a great word! Not to digress but essentially it means a ruffle or flounce ) were the height of fashion the lace pin enjoyed great popularity. A lace pin was a small brooch designed to accent or artfully anchor such frills, while discreetly drawing attention to the wearer's placement of the pin, which was more likely than not the bosom. At the time men were not supposed to touch or even speak of a woman's physical charms below the neck but a discreet glance was encouraged if not expected. Alas, along with discretion, the lace pin has become obsolete in the modern world so we've repurposed a selection of these into more wearable pieces for the 21st century. ❃ More Necklaces and Pendants: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheEdenCollective?section_id=13939717&ref=shopsection_leftnav_3 ❃ We are happy to offer layaway.
