A charming heart locket circa 1900 crafted in 10k gold with a light rosey tint. Featuring a brightly glittering old mine-cut diamond set in an engraved star on the front, and the back a beautifully hand-engraved monogram, initials "L.J.S.".
Traditionally the diamond refers to strength, fidelity, eternal love and commitment, wonderful sentiments towards those whose photos might be held within this keepsake.
Measuring approximately 7/8" north to south not including the attached bail, and 7/8" east to west. It opens to reveal space for two small pictures and closes firmly with a satisfying snap. Hung from a fine antique 16" 10k gold curb chain.
In excellent antique condition with a light patina, and a couple of faint dimples but no unsightly scratches. Not marked for gold content but acid tests to 10k. The chain is marked for 10k on the foldover clasp.
